Dispatch Ground Delivery Robots

The race to deliver by robot is on. A San Francisco-based startup, Dispatch, has joined the ground delivery trend with their robot, Carry. The startup, founded by a team of roboticists from MIT, UPenn, Princeton, and Stanford, plans on offering a simple, affordable on-demand delivery through a fleet of autonomous robots.

Sharp’s Robot Phone

Last year, Sharp unveiled their ludicrous reinvention of the smartphone dubbed RoBoHoN. It’s a robot melded in the shape of a humanoid but offering the same functionality of a smartphone and then some. Sharp wasn’t kidding when it debuted RoBoHoN. The Japanese company is putting a few thousand models up for grabs each featuring a fat price tag of $1,800.

ESPN To Air Drone Racing

ESPN and the International Drone Racing Association have inked a multi-year deal to broadcast the best of drone racing. The first instalment will be the U.S. National Drone Racing Championships, to be hosted on Governor’s Island in New York at the beginning of August. ESPN will stream all three days live online, and wrap up the highlights into a one-hour TV spot.
